Studies say that depression may be hereditary. It can be caused by certain defunct genes. Nevertheless, it can be prevented from occurring. If a person is by nature melancholic and his over-all mental and physical condition is prone to depression there are still ways to control it and hinder it from being full blown. A great factor is also the environment a person grows up in. If it is filled with love, care, kindness and full of positive elements then definitely despite a person’s genetic make-up leaning towards depression he will emanate nothing but happiness. On the other-hand, if all his life he has witnessed at home, daily fighting, hatred, jealousy and all negativity, no questions asked he will surely be wallowed by depression and may even end up in a Looney bin.

It will give you the strength to carry on and surpass your trials. You do not have to be religious if it is not your cup of tea. Finding your own way which is suitable for you to converse with God is enough. His guidance will help you get by. You must keen as to how his hand will work wonders for you.
Depression may be hereditary but it does not have to end there. If you find yourself in that state just accept your fate and believe that you can recover from it. It is not a permanent situation; it is not your destiny. Believe in yourself that you can overcome depression. It is first and foremost normal to experience it. It is how you will win the battle that matters.
