The world of the rich and famous isn't as problem free as it may seem, in a recent interview Justin Timberlake admitted to suffering from OCD claiming that he has an obsession with spending hours straightening objects and that he feels as though he has to have particular food items stocked in his fridge. The star has been reported saying 'I have OCD mixed with ADD. You try living with that. It's complicated'. ADD is Attention Deficit Disorder, which is a mixture of attention problems, impulsiveness, hyperactivity, which can lead to behavioural problems.
Justin Timberlake is not the only successful celebrity to admit to suffering from Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, in fact the list and range of celebrities is endless. David Beckham has been reported to have OCD, and his wife Victoria Beckham has not been shy about talking about his obsessiveness with symmetry. She claims that one of his big obsessions is in their fridge, stating that everything is neatly lined up and categorically sorted. She also states that if products aren't in even numbers, he will happily get rid of the odd one out!! This obsession leads to his wardrobe, where it is reported to be colour coordinated.
It has been said that many stars suffer from OCD, some say this is down to being in the public eye, being creative or simply for the love they have for themselves. Cameron Diaz, who is a successful actress and also an ex-girlfriend of Justin Timberlake claims to have an obsession with doorknobs, she has been quoted claiming that she refuses to touch them as she's 'just not into other people's fluids'.
Another actress who claims she can be 'a little obsessive compulsive about things' is Jessica Alba, who suggests it's down to being creative. Jessica has suffered from OCD since she was a child and explains it as her way of achieving her best in everything she does as her obsession is with perfectionism.
So away from the starlight, the glitz and the glamour, celebrities have their own personal struggles. Whether it's repetition, symmetry, perfectionism or cleaning, no matter who you are in the world you are not alone in suffering from OCD.
