Frequently Asked Questions Print E-mail

Hopefully these FAQs will answer some of your many questions about OCD-TODAY. Please feel free to contact us should you still have further questions for us.

Why was OCD-Today established?

OCD-TODAY began from the frustrations and isolation experienced by one person, a young man keeping his OCD disorder a secret for 19 years. He noticed here in the United Kingdom there were only a few organisations solely dedicated to OCD. He also felt OCD was still not nationally recognised and that a new, fresh relaunch was needed. On 21st June 2007 OCD-Today became an officially registered non-profit organisation helping thousands.

Is OCD-Today registered as a non-profit organisation?

Yes. We are registered as limited by guarantee (CLG) at Companies House, an Executive Agency of the Department for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform (BERR).

What is a Company Limited by Guarantee (CGL)?

A company limited by guarantee (CGL) is a special type of company available to non-profit making organisations and charities.

A Company Limited by Guarantee (CLG) is a private company that does not have shareholders or share capital. It has members, called guarantors that undertake to contribute should the company need it. It cannot distribute its profits and these are generally reinvested back into the organisation.

Is OCD-Today regulated?

Yes. We are members of the Fundraising Standards Board self-regulatory scheme.

How is OCD-Today funded?

OCD-Today operates as a non-profit making organisation and we do not receive any funding from the government which means we rely on donations from members of the public and companies in order to carry out its work and aims.

Is OCD-Today just for the UK?

No, definitely not. Although we will be conducting our work within the United Kingdom, we certainly welcome members and visitors from all over the world.
