| OCD-TODAY History |
|
OCD-Today began from the frustrations and isolation experienced by one person, a young man keeping his OCD disorder a secret for 19 years. He suffered intensively from OCD and was diagnosed with depression and OCD in November 2005. For almost two decades suffering in silence he is now on the road to recovery and enjoying life to the full.
He noticed here in the United Kingdom there were only a few organisations solely dedicated to OCD. He also felt OCD was still not nationally recognised for young people and children and that a new, fresh relaunch was needed for that age group. On 21st June 2007 OCD-Today became an officially registered non-profit organisation helping an average of 250,000 people a year. A message from the Chairman What I hope to achieve is to help sufferers understand they are not alone, help is available. I want to bring knowledge and awareness of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) to the general public, and to provide information for sufferers, their family, friends and carers. With famous celebs openly admitting they are sufferers too, it has given the general public a better insight of this debilitating disorder. It also encourages more people to stop living a secret life and to come out and receive help and support. When I set up OCD-Today I wanted to offer accurate and less complicated information. We all know how frustrating and time consuming it is to browse through numerous pages and not understand what we are actually reading. At OCD-Today we carried out a survey, and the feedback we received from the general public was to build a website that provided accurate information and which was straight to the point, easy to understand and always reliable. So we worked closely with our web designers to come up with a website that was simple, easy and reliable. I very much hope you find the information on this website of some use. With Regards,
