NICE Guidelines Print E-mail

National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) is an independent organisation responsible for providing national guidance on promoting good health and preventing and treating ill health.

On 23rd November 2005 the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) issued a Clinical Guideline on Interventions in the Treatment of Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder and Body Dysmorphic Disorder within the NHS in England and Wales.

The NICE clinical guideline on obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) and body dismorphic disorder (BDD) covers:

+the care people with OCD or BDD can expect to receive from their GP or other healthcare professional
+what treatments may be offered, including psychological therapies and medication
+the services that may help with OCD or BDD, including specialist mental health services
+how families and carers may be able to support people with OCD and BDD, and how they can get support for themselves.
